A platform bed with a tall panel headboard in a weathered wood grain, over a black metal frame that does the real work. Solid wood slats carry the mattress, so there is no box spring to buy, and the frame is bolted rather than clipped, so it does not creak when someone turns over. The headboard, footboard and rails are wide flat panels with the grain and knots showing through, in a rustic brown that reads like reclaimed barn wood or a black that reads like ebonised oak. One box, three quarters of an hour with the included tools, and the room has its anchor.

  • Black metal frame with solid wood slats set close enough to carry the mattress on their own. No box spring, no foundation, nothing extra to buy.
  • Headboard, footboard and side rails in an engineered wood board with a deep wood-grain finish: flat panels, squared posts, a plain top rail. It reads rustic in the brown and quietly industrial in the black.
  • Two finishes: rustic brown, a weathered mid-brown with darker knots and grain that reads like reclaimed barn wood; and black, a matte near-black that shows the grain where the light hits it.
  • The headboard stands 44.13 in, tall enough to sit up against with two pillows behind you.
  • Open space under the frame for flat storage boxes, with the metal rails keeping the floor clear of legs in the middle.
  • Bolted joints throughout, so the frame stays tight and silent rather than working loose over time.
  • Assembled, it measures 82.83 in long, 60.83 in wide and 44.13 in high, and weighs 71.06 lb. Takes a standard 60 × 80 in queen mattress.
  • Arrives flat in one carton at 81.18 lb. Assembly takes about 45 minutes; the tools and a step-by-step guide are in the box.
