A U-shaped sectional built for the room where everyone ends up. Eleven and a half feet across, with a deep lounge piece turned in at each end so four people can stretch out facing the same way, in a wide-wale corduroy that reads soft and looks heavy. Underneath it is a solid wood frame with pocketed coil springs, not just foam, so the seats hold their shape. Every section detaches and moves on its own, which is how a sofa this big gets down a hallway.

  • A symmetrical U: two seats through the middle with a deep lounge end turned in on either side, so nobody sits facing away from the room.
  • Three colours of the same wide-wale corduroy: black, which reads charcoal where the light catches the rib and near-flat black in the shade; dark grey, a cool graphite with a blue cast that shows the rib from across the room; and green, a deep pine that goes olive in daylight and reads almost black at night.
  • An open shelf built into the outside of one arm — a place for books, a basket or a lamp without adding an end table.
  • Solid wood frame with high-density foam over a pocketed coil spring system: a supported, medium-firm sit rather than a cloud.
  • Upgraded breathable corduroy with anti-pilling and anti-wrinkle finish, and a stain-resistant face for everyday use.
  • Each section detaches and moves independently, which makes a narrow hallway, a turn at the top of a stair or a move to the next house possible.
  • Assembled, it measures 139.76 inches long, 62.2 inches deep and 33.46 inches high, and weighs 335.1 pounds. Assembly runs 10 to 15 minutes with the tools in the box.
  • Arrives vacuum-packed in four cartons that may come on different days. Unbox, give the cushions about 72 hours to return to shape, and pat them back to full.
