A platform bed with a headboard that works for a living: an open shelf along the top for the lamp, the book and the glass of water, with two power outlets and two USB ports set into it so phones charge without a cord across the floor. The face of it, and the rails and footboard, are fluted, a fine vertical reeding in a natural oak grain or a deep walnut that catches the light and makes the whole bed read as one piece. Underneath is an all-metal frame rated to eight hundred pounds, with foam on the centre beam so nothing squeaks. One box, about an hour with the tools included.
- A storage headboard: an open shelf across the full width for the things that live by a bed, with a charging station of two power outlets and two USB ports built in.
- Fluted panels on the headboard, rails and footboard: a fine vertical reeding in an engineered wood board with a wood-grain face. Two finishes: natural, a pale oak that reads blond in daylight; and walnut, a deep warm brown with the grain showing through.
- An all-metal support frame under the mattress with metal legs through the middle, rated for 800 lb, so the wood is the face and the steel does the work.
- Foam strips on the centre beam keep metal from touching metal, so the frame stays silent when someone turns over.
- The headboard stands 47.2 in, with rounded corner posts on the headboard and footboard.
- Assembled, it measures 84 in long, 68.1 in wide and 47.2 in high, and weighs 102 lb. Takes a standard 80 × 59.5 in queen mattress.
- Arrives flat in one carton at 121 lb. Assembly takes about an hour; the tools and a step-by-step guide are in the box.
- Also made as a Full XL in both finishes, not on the site yet.
